Albert Einstein stellte seine Allgemeine Relativitätstheorie am 25. November 1915 in einem Vortrag der Preußischen Akademie der Wissenschaften vor. Darin spielt der Begriff der Raumzeit eine wesentliche Rolle. 1931 nahm Rudy Vallee die Orginalversion von Herman Hupfelds Lied “As Time Goes By” auf. Als jedoch Sam 1941 in Casablanca die Melodie anstimmte, waren die weggelassenen Strophen, genau wie die Wissenschaft von der Raumzeit, von der Populärkultur vergessen.
Ein Punkt in der Raumzeit ist bestimmt durch seine Ortskoordinaten x,y,z und durch die Zeitkoordinate t. Ein Ausschnitt aus der Raumzeit, ist, wenn man mal recht laienhaft darüber nachdenkt, ein Foto. Ort und Zeit sind genau bestimmt.
